Pros
This is brilliant. With only 5 component it really isn't difficult to put together. It is extremely fun to use and and very easy though the first time i used it i couldn't work out how to put the lid together.
The ben & *'s ice-cream maker makes great tasty icecream. It's basically a base that you freeze overnight (or keep in the freezer, ready for an impulse churning! Then you pour in your mixture and it churns away.
Stainless steel bowl is very smooth. The paddle is more robust than it looks and has withstood being rammed in the drawer and jostled with other utensils for 2 years. The bowl isn't so big and does fit in our small freezer.
The consistency is excellent. Even with chunky ice cream additions. There's a discrepancy between the named 1. But hey, it's relatively inexpensive.
Cons
The spindle and paddle are far too flimsly for making ice cream. Both the original and replacement developed a crack on the bottom that leaked blue cooling fluid. This is a known design fault that could easily be rectified.
The bowl that needs to go into the freezer is 18cm high. The mixture never seems to set properly, irrespective of how long you leave it in the machine.

I also bought the ben jerrys ice cream making book but found the recipes in the book supplied with the machine are just as good
The machine is very simple and im really impressed with the results
But hey its relatively inexpensive and ive had mine for 10 years without it going wrong once now thats a good product

Any ice or debris in the hole means the pin cannot fully drop into the hole and it won’t work
