It has a tenancy to want to go back to its original length so avoid stretching it

One it creates an inconsistent width because the stretching isnt perfect all the way across the surface

Some areas are tall and some areas are a little shorter and when you step back and look at it its painfully obvious

If youve got varying levels of gaps youre trying to cover with it it becomes more difficult

The adhesive is in the corner of the piece not so much out at the outer edges so if theres a bigger gap its going to want to be pushed in deeper to have something to adhere to

Any gaps bigger than about a half an inch are cause for concern so youll want to feel those gaps before applying the caulk strip
