We have a 4x22 ft runner on top of carpeting in our family room which constantly was moving and buckling. While the carpet still moves it does so without creating any humps so it is manageable and can be corrected every once in a while.

Cons

Both rugs slip and have to be repositioned. The mat sticks to carpet well but not to the rugs. Shifts noticeably within a few days with very light use.
