Pros

It's by far my favorite knife for veggies--i use my other knives for other purposes. It really excels at slicing/chopping larger vegetables. The one complaint i can make against this knife is that it does not have a full-tang.

The fit and finish of mac's nakiri are superb. It compares well with my other nakiris and would recommend it to anyone. Its very nimble and is amazing at a chiffonade.

We wash and dry the knive as soon as done using it and it looks brand new. No rusting or discoloration.

This is the sharpest knife i have ever used. The steel in this knife allows it to hold its sharp edge longer. It can be sharpened more easily than stainless steel as well.

The mac knife is now my favorite and i am purchasing one for my sister. This knife is awesome. It is incredible.



Cons

There is no bolster and the other mac knives have a bolster. The top of the handle is not seamlessly attached to the blade. Cleaver cuts well, but rusted the first time i used it.

Be sure to buy a quality whetstone at the same time.

The mac knife is definitely worth the price.

9102021 update; still the best vegetable knife available in the wife's opinion (the cook in the house, i say no more!


Citrus, tomatoes, mostly, that you should rinse the blade right away to keep it from discoloring.

Competitiveness


I got it 12 years ago and it has held up well—no rust spots, as some have complained of, but i don’t leave it lying around wet.


Very lightweight - important for my wife's arthritic hands - very very easy to control


I got a $10 kiwi cleaver and a $10 winco kc 301 cleaver.


I've had this knife since 2016, purchased here on amazon and it still looks like new.

    Wish they would soften the edges a little around the grip though.
