The beginning of this book was kind of slow paced it was really more of following valora as she navigates life as a stowaway on the ship


However it won me back when valora and jamie started using their acrobat skills to get off the ship

    It was heartbreaking reading about the chinese exclusion act that is pretty glossed over in american history

    The authors note at the end about how the few chinese passengers were treated compared to the rest of the survivors is appalling and i love how the author honored them in her own way in this story
