Pros

Youtube has instruction on how to do it. Suggest buying the moody tools 55-2342 chromium vanadium steel tri point screw driver from here on amazon to make disassembly easier.

This drive has been successfully used to restore the first generation wii. It works, but it’s noisier than the original drive. Replacement drive is quite a bit louder.

Swapped this out for a busted optical drive. Worked to fix the wii great. Even plays gamecube games.

Cons

Worked flawlessly for 10 days. On the 11th day, stopped reading discs. Would not spin or eject the disc either.
