I damaged the the factory supplied sending unit mounted to the transom of my boat and it subsequently failed from water penetrating the unit

The included transducer is your typical bottom of transom design that needs to be in clear water flow for correct operation while under way

It has no built in onoff functionality but the owners manual indicates that average power consumption is only 11ma and that the unit can be left on at all times with minimal impact on battery charge

The led back light can be set up to be on any time the unit is on or be wired to a dash illumination circuit and only run with the instrument lights
