Been working on cars over 35 years and during most of that time they had wheel bearings that had to be repacked periodically

I did most of them the old fashioned way by hand

Most cars have gone to sealed bearings in hubs now so there isnt much call for repacking bearings anymore

This is by no means a 34must have34 tool but it is a nice to have tool

I wont say it is not messy because you are still working with wheel bearing grease but it is less messy since you dont have to hold a hand full of grease

The cheaper plastic ones get warped and damaged

I did the four smaller bearings first and the four larger bearings last

Each time i removed the bearing but left the glob of grease on the base of the unit so there was less pumping required to grease the next bearing
