Pros
Good nailing. Nothing else on the market allows air in while keeping moisture out. If you have done a ridge vent before than this is not all that bad. You could actually save money my making vent shingles out of excess roofshingles.
Cons
The aesthetics of this ridge vent is not pleasing.

I was still trying to figure out if the shingles along the edges not on the vent if they go over or under the black mat

And of course the mat was over lapped by a foot over the vent hole

The shingles on the side of the mat underlapped the mat by a foot
