I am so glad my library has this in ebook it seems to be read so much faster by me rather than in paperback. I recommend this book to all who enjoy a paranormal story seasoned with a little romance and the flavor of a small southern town.

Charlaine harris writes in a pleasing style. It is easy to read when a solution pops out of thin air.



Cons

Sookie is a flat, boring, insipid character, a fictional woman who gives a bad name to real women. I also find the eric/sookie/bill love triangle to be a little tiresome.

I prefer my sleuths to use their innate intellectual and intuitive skills. The writing is fun, but not crafted well enough to hold the readers attention without this. Whatever potential the set up had ends up being lightly sketched over.

Some readers may be put off by harris' folksy/breezy condescension towards her characters. Sookie stackhouse is the only inspired elements in the contrived, uncertain first two novels.
