Livid by patricia cornwell is #26 in the kay scarpetta series. Kay and benton are still in love and together. The characters are complex and well developed.

Kay scarpetta is bossy, egotistical, * and points out everyone’s flaws, while having no self awareness of her own flaws. Benton and kay come across as pompous and overly self important. Poor kay - always being victimized.

This 350 page procedural novel has 300 pages of procedure and 50 pages of thin plot. The actual storyline could have been written in 25% of the pages. It was written more like a movie script yet there were longs stretches of inaction.
