I found that in the current shipping model the universal socket has been mounted upside down compared with the images shown here so that a uk plug cable points upwards which looks odd but fixes the previous cable clearance problem effectively

The only design flaw is that they should have left the uk socket upside down apparently was this way on older models or mounted the socket higher so that there is room for the cable to turn 90 degrees not a problem when the unit is sitting on a shelf but it is a problem with the unit sat on the floor
