I have purchased the earlier editions of this book and was a bit disappointed as to the amount of time the authors had described the different shells but were soft on actual bash and command line programming

There are a ton of code walk throughs which concisely explain the way the shell is interpreting the commands and how you get to the expected result

Despite that i was constantly struggling to write bash scripts that worked this is because so much of the free online documentation on bash scripting is confusing and incomplete
