Pros & Cons
Pros
This product continues to amaze me. More importantly it seems well built and engineered.
Playing around with the colors is really fun too especially with some company to impress. The colors are fantastic and are truly deep in their reproduction. Bright blues, greens, and reds look amazing!
Link to bulb direct wifi, then put it on you wifi via app. I use an ac router in my home that provides strong wifi throughout my home. This is one device that connects via wifi and doesn't take up another port on your router.
All of my bulbs are a21 white e26 edison screw type bulbs. Some bulbs are in lamps and some are in open recessed ceiling fixtures. To me, the hue is similar to a 50 watt incandescent light.
Cons
The bulb was defective on first attempt to use. The setup is so bad. New features are poorly implemented (if at all):1.
Lifx only displays true colors at 50% brightness. The cri (color rendering index) of this bulb is significantly lower than the hue.
The bulb is bulky and heavy. The manufacturer says you cannot use this bulb in an enclosed fixture. No turning on/off with the sunrise/sunset. It is a nice looking bulb but if its in a lamp shade or in socket you probably won't see it.
Both the android and ios apps constantly lose connectivity to the bulbs. Can't use it with airplay. Main issues are with heat dissipation and the lifx ios app used to control the led.

I know they were 80 40 for the white light only version before but when i saw that the price has dropped to 60 i had to pick one up
I price checked around for these bulbs and most sites wanted about 99
I got them at 35 each i think that is about where the price should be
Packaging/appearance
Using iftt i have the lifx bulb turn on whenever i turn on the wemo switch i have turning on a fan
I don’t believe they repaired mine as the one they sent had their new packaging
Then in the morning i have the wemo switch on schedule to turn off a little before my alarm which then triggers iftt to turn th... Read More
Competitiveness
I have both my thermostat and protect connected along with my ismart alarm and works flawless with everything
I have lifx hue and ge link bulbs
Unfortunately i will not be buying any more lifx bulbs
Im sure thats more to do with ifttt than the actual bulb
