It should be way narrower if it is meant to support portrait mode or at least that much should be made clear that this is really only for landscape movie watching mode or a tablet sized phone in portrait mode

I purchased this because my surface pro 4 tablet was showing a line across the top of the screen when the display hit 42 degree celsius

Searching the internet showed others having similar heat issues with their surface pro 3 and 4 tablets

This device has allowed me to use my surface pro 4 without the need to get it fixed as it is out of warranty and would cost 600 to replace with microsoft

Note this will not work if you use the attached keyboard cover as the bottom stand gets in the way
