Pros & Cons
Pros
Top of the speaker has a touch screen with the nightingale logo. A nifty feature is that if you want to mute the sound you just put your hand over the top and the sound fades out immediately - remove your hand, music resumes at the previous volume.
Easy to set up using the leaflet that comes with the zipp. Set-up with bluetooth is very easy. Spotify connects easily via both bluetooth and over wifi.
It looks fantastic for starters. I love the teal, red and white colour-way. The only thing i'd change is the cover, so it matches my decor.
I find the inbuilt digital radio invaluable. You can preset up to 5 internet radio stations. The support for airplay is also a big benefit for me.
Main selling point is the sound quality, which thankfully, is really good. In terms of quality of sound, this one totally blows the others out of the water. For me it is loud enough at full volume - but i can imagine some feeling that it lacks oomph.
Cons
Libratone is not intuitive. What a ludicrous thing to do - it's not an update, it's a downgrade. Trying to setup the speakers again proved useless.
The sound output is really not that strong - its similar to an amazon echo. Is my unit faulty or is it how it really works?
Switching modes from radio to wifi or bluetooth to wifi is not possible. It also has problems with the wifi. If you restart it (and wait two minutes for it to happen), the connection is usually dropped after less than an hour.

These are not cheap but nor is the cost prohibitive
Packaging/appearance
A genuine gem so glad i took all those years before deciding on the libratone zipp
Thankfully i looked again and stumbled across the libratone zipp
Competitiveness
I moved mine and my phone and mac onto a 5ghz network and pretty much all the airplay glitches went away
I have a few wireless speakers including a sonos play 3 but the libratone zipp really does pack a big punch for the price
In other words a fancy music server converting a 24bit 96khz album and serving it to the zipp via airplay after having process... Read More
