Pros
This player does well with all my old dvds both british and american. It plays all my other blu-ray disks. Only complaint is that video quality isn't as good for region 2 discs as the native region 1 discs.
I actually think it's better than my flagship model 4k uhd player.
Only downside is the remote control. The instructions are clear and precise!
Cons
As a basic dvd/blu ray player, it is fine but no more than that. Played one region b disc, and was locked to that region. Blu ray player is defective and we would like to exchange for a new one.

Sony player i got first was supposed to be region free and it wasnt
I called the customer service and got immediate assistance even though it was the weekend
It should arrive shortly and i will update my review to reflect the one they send me

There are some brands and models that you do need to pay a third party to unlock but not with the lg bp175

The manual instructions note that to select the bluray region you must push a specific button on the remote control

What was not 100 clear to me was that the tray must remain open at the time the button is pushed
