The so-called instructions are only tips recommending to attach (or remove) the filters on the threaded ring while it's not attached to the camera. Too many hoops and dollars to jump through to get a partial return.

After initial installation following all directions very carefully have used a similar system on another travel zoom in the past found out that when the camera retracts the lens barrel there is just a small amount of pressure against the filter mount from the camera body when the filter was in place tending to pop it off
