I wouldnt use them over a can of food to store since youre not supposed to use cans to store food in the chemicals in the can will leach into food once they are opened and exposed to the air

I have a few pyrex small bowls that do not have lids to them anymore and this was a nice alternative to keeping the mixing bowls regardless that theyre missing a piece

They stretch right over the top and are leakproof put on several times and turned full carafe upside down over sink and shook vigorously
