It should be about 12 inch longer to make it easier to wire up while leaving enough insulation for the rubber boot to fit over it so as to provide water resistance

I would make the rear clamp close without leaving an open space on the side of the electrical cable

It makes this look like a cobbled up solution and not like it was factory installed

As in all plugs and receptacles i have bought like this it is very difficult to make the connections due to with the very short wire lengths you must work with to close everything up properly
