This hdmi to dvi adapter does the job. It's also useful for connecting my video game console consoles to my monitors. This adapter is inexpensive but works great.

Though one of the metal sides of the vga plug was slightly bent inward and i had to straighten it

One thing to keep in mind is the length of the adapter though after trying one hdmi cord the plug was too long to fit behind my monitor

As advertised its a shame that the issue is with my tv specifically and it doesnt get detected
