I find the lights themselves to be quite bright without being blinding and the ability to focus the beam is useful at full zoom it clearly shows the led pathways but its fine

The battery compartment is spring held on both ends so most styles of 18650s will work

It unfortunately does have a strobe mode id pay extra to not have it but you can use it without hitting that nuisance
