Reviewer says her son, 4, will not outgrow this toy. She says it is just like legos, but with more gears. She also says the gear interaction is much easier for a 3-year-old.

This gear set is great for building and experimenting with. My son proudly shows us his new machine and asks us to operate it. I wish his tall towers were more stable and when he spins the gears quickly that it were a bit more quiet.

Cons

The gears line is a great stem toy, but this is a poor set. At five years old, kids are rough, their motor skills are certainly not fine tuned to be gentle. Find a different gears kit.

It is very difficult to pull connectors and extension pieces apart to reconfigure.

Hence combining it with the robots in gears was more useful

Either make it stronger or put more springs in the set to keep it useful and less dissappointment for the young ones when they break
