Pros

The sax is well built and featured blue steel springs and indented keys. The case is made of a stiff foam (lined with velvet) with a fabric covering. Overall, it's a great instrument for the price and i definitely recommend it.

Bought this on ebay to avoid mn tax. Came with tons of accessories. It also comes with a strap that's not very good, but i've been using that as well. Comes with a few extras used for care and repair.

Plays great and mostly in tune, but sopranos are always a beast to play in tune! Does not feel cheap and definitely has a dark sweet tone from the black nickel. The tone is clean, centered and big! Easy * and it stays in tune.

I consider myself an amateur/beginner as i only play the sax in my living room two to three times a week for enjoyment. It's play along with the radio at school, play for the children, and keep in the car for impromptu playing that pops up at places i...  Read More

The sound is sweet and easy to blow with my selmer c* mouthpiece and henke 2. Only complaint is there is no cleaning pad to handle the mouthpiece section. It's something to be aware of if you're more used to tenor and alto, as i was.

Cons

It plays notes, but the intonation is awful! The labels say it's pink, but in actuality, i received a very orange/red lacquered sax. Will hold off playing it until after i return this one and settle on another workable color option to get.

Quality

I am so amazed by the quality of the sound and quality of the workmanship

Im sure if you went up to 1300 bucks thered be a quality difference but for our budget this horn is great

Personally i wouldnt use the neck strap anyway because of its poor quality

Despite the quality of the pads the horn plays well from bottom to top with good intonation although above high d is a little fussy

Price

Yanagisawa is a very good company for saxophones both for jazz and classical playing

Packaging/appearance

It played great right out of the box no problems with any notes

There was at least one loose screw out of the box but easily fixed with a screwdriver

Competitiveness

Its worth noting that this horn has taken a beating

The case resembles the original protech cases

I also use vandoren java jazz reeds and a rovner ligature

There are some flaws besides the tuning

If that wasnt bad enough there was a mess of the stuff run down the bore of the horn

Also the mouthpiece had to be pushed almost all the way back to the end of the cork to get in tune
