Pros & Cons
Pros
There is a fine interweaving between the story from the sacred grove, where lavinia met (and continues to meet) the spirit of the dying virgil. This book is as remarkable and timeless as any epic poem and a true tribute to virgil's work.
Leguin re-tells the aeneid in a modern voice, like john steinbeck did with the arthurian myths. Lavinia, the main character in lavinia, is a remarkable and memorable character. Author's skill with the english language is unquestionable.
