Pros & Cons
Pros
The lansky knife sharpener does a great job sharpening my swiss army knife. My father likes his so much that he'll happily sharpen my kitchen knives for me. With minimal effort and barely 30 minutes of sharpening, my esse is sharper now than when i bo... Read More
I wish the kit came it a screwdriver to tighten the clamp and had a more positive blade indent to hold it. Once you’re used to it, setup takes longer than the actual sharpening. My father refuses to read instructions, so i feel that it's intuitive and... Read More
The coarsest stone is heavily used to attain one of these 4(8) angles. Get the standard three stone system, extra coarse diamond stone, a leather strop, and a polishing compound. You can also get a lansky leather strop or lansky leather.
Cons
The professional sharpening kit is well below expectations. The knife moves around during sharpening, making the job a tedious and prolonged chore. When you try to sharpen like that the blade just slides around and pops out.

The clamp loosens over the course of sharpening and the base (that must be purchased separately by the way) also loosens. I have to pull a flimsy l-shaped pin out and in order to keep the stone straight, lay it on a flat surface to make sure it's stra... Read More
