It has to be seated properly to the blade to sharpen correctly. The backwards nature of the sharpening system itself is dangerous for new to sharpening users, imho. They are very narrow so it is super easy to get an inconsistent cut across the blade.

Knife clamp is cheap and * and covered in casting burrs. Thumb screw is too big and interferes with the function of the tool at the lowest angle on one side. Clamp doesn't properly tighten to keep your blade secure.
