The lamy al-star is a nice enough pen. Great construction and it is aluminum. It's metallic and matte. Very good value as well, as they are not ridiculously priced.
This one outshines all my waterman pens. The smoothness and flow of this pen is simply amazing. The ink window is clutch so you can check the ink level without unscrewing the body.
The pen is such a gorgeous deep purple/burgundy color. Package is very simple and lamy retail package, good an secure to protect the pen. The pen looks ok, but a bit clunky.

Recently a very old friend mentioned that his sister remembers how beautiful my handwriting used to be in school and i decided to go back to writing with a fountain pen but i didnt want to use my old pens which are now considered collectibles and are too expensive to risk losing
