The lights can be operated manually when required with the onoff switch or you can turn it to auto which will detect motion and turn on accordingly

Auto will turn on when the pir sensor detects movement and its in a dark area it wont come on in bright light

The lead is a simple connector that you can probably get an extension for if you need it to light up an area further away from the control box

Note when installing the strip it can be cut if too long for the area you intend to put it area that is smaller than 40 you can cut the strip from every 4”along the black cut linesthe motion activation is from up to 10ft if placed somewhere without doors
