Many brushes use red sable, ox or camel hair brush tips as well as synthetic. Kuretake also makes a red sable version of this pen which i also use.

You can make awesome looking brush strokes with it great for calligraphy but hard to control for creating a consistent medium line for illustrative work

Im not a fan of plastic body pens as they are cheep nonrecyclable and hold little value to an artists long term use

It is also more vegan friendly with the synthetic brush whereas the 40 uses sable or some other martin fur that could be animal abuse

Obviously you should not use sumi or india ink
