They are 100% better than pictured. My husband is in wheelchair & these protect his elbows. These are much better than the white ones with the foam rubber and protect just as well.
It is a good product and he likes them a lot. Very, very excellent delivery.
Cons
The material is rough and causes my skin to itch. Ruff is not the word. Feels like a cheese grater.

If you are getting along in age and have skin that bruises easily or take blood thinning pain killer supplements like curcumin you might appreciate having protection for your forearms elbows and shins
