I think it is because of the handheld design and need to have the correct angle of cantoopener so stringent that getting it aligned is a learned thing although not impossible

Not sure why this technology hasnt totally replaced the traditional electric can opener

It removes it completely unlike the hand crank kind that leaves one small edge attached sometimes and it comes off with smooth edges
