But i recently came across a used korg padkontrol and after some research determined that it was a midi 4x4 pad controller originally released in 2006

The padkontrol can be powered by usb though it cannot be powered directly from an ipad despite otherwise working with ipad via camera connection kit

This is easily remedied for me however since there is an alternative 9v dc power jack which is center negative and accepts a standard power supply that works with most guitar pedals

I have an arturia beatstep and while its a wellcrafted device the padkontrol is far more powerful in terms of what it can do without hooking up to a computer

It draws more power than the ipad can supply on its own but then again it was released about 3 years before the ipad even came out
