It does work for both horizontal and vertical windows

The fit is not very snug so i use a simple hose clamp to tighten it all up

While the hose adapter is a good inch or inchandahalf from the bottom of the panel that fits in the window once the exhaust hose is attached the panel barely fits inside the window sill

Our house is old and has the wider sills so if you have a newer home or windows with no sills this wont be an issue

The swing feature just moves the louvers up and down not sideways so you have to point the unit in the direction you want the air to blow

This usually requires turning the unit at an angle from the window which adds another turn to the exhaust hose something the owners manual cautions against
