Pros & Cons

Pros

Thermal throttles with temps over 81 c on pi 3b (non +). Thermal temps stay under 49c with the thicker pad installed. Just a small dot was applied to both the pi's cpu then the case's cpu contact point. It keeps my raspberry pi b+ at a cool 25°c consi...  Read More

For $15 these things seem like a steal. Great value. Loving this. This case is pretty fantastic.

Cons

Drop in thermal pad leaves the board cockeyed. No free airflow over the alleged heatsink for the processor.

This case isn't compatible with the raspberry pi 3b+. There is no way that the rpi 3 b+ will fit in the case i was shipped. I tried every singles screw that comes inside the package, both the ones in the 3b plus bag and 2/3 bag and none seem to work.

It's past my return timeline on this item and now i have a useless paperweight. Will look for a better option. I only write reviews when a product exceeds expectations or is a piece of junk.

Ive heard that it is very very tricky to run a ribbon cable from the gpio pins due to how tight the screw posts are to the ends...  Read More

It is worth noting that there is a small opening in the case you could feed gpio wires through but since the case probably wont...  Read More

Competitiveness

Bought this along with a canakit to use as a media server

Using this for pi 3b for running retropie

As a previous reviewer pointed out you cant get your 40pin gpio cable onto the header because the screw posts interfere

However this also means you cant get any hats or shims in there i wanted to use an adafruit rtc module and again it wont fit i...  Read More

There are two heat pads in the box one bag says 3b and 2 and the other one says 3b

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I honestly have the raspberry pi 3b and i used the 3b heat pad because the one that was made for my model didn’t have good contact with the case and therefore bad thermals

Of course the case is made of aluminum and that is what causes the wifi to lack signal strength

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

But if you are relying on wifi connectivity then keep this in mind

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

One way i could solve the wifi signal loss was by placing the case bottom up since the bottom is made of plastic wifi radio waves could go through easily and therefore have better signal strength

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Before this case my raspberry pi 3b was in the official raspberry pi red and white case and with normal tasks the raspberry pi reached 80°c and now the raspberry pie doesn’t even reach 60°c

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I overclock to my raspberry pi 3b2 1300 mhz and never reached 60°c

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I mounted the board and closed the case
