The striker/ hammer thing is not attached securely to the bell body. The coil spring is rusted & can no longer activate the hammer to ring the bell.

My old cheapie bell is much much louder, it’s just kinda ugly. The noise level / pitch is not loud enough to startled pedestrians.

Unfortunately the brake cables are in the way so it dampens the sound on the bell or causes it to not ring at all

Nice bit of machining and if you don’t want to clutter up the bars on your road bike a workable option assuming you want to politely alert a pedestrian or other bike rider you are quietly overtaking them
