Pros
Reviewer's partner is a musician and loves the quality for such a small speaker. Clarity and detail is good using spotify or bbc sounds.
Cons
The hive 2 is not as good as the hive 1. The micro-usb socket is flimsy and easily bent. Battery life is barely half of that quoted by the manufacturer.
Continually loses connection 2-3 mins after successfully playing sound. Bluetooth is slow to connect. Box did come damaged; perhaps this has something to do with it?
Fiddly and cheap. Just another piece of rubbish. I forked out for the jbl flip 2 as a much superior replacement.
Device goes into standby when there's a bit of silence, then powers up when something's received, at which point it pops. This is an annoyance for music with gaps and pauses, but a major issue when listening to speech such as audio books.
Sound distorts badly if volume higher than half way on iphone/ipad. Good until you crank it up to max volumne then it becomes very distorted. Sound is not clear but muffled.

Sound quality is really very impressive for the size of speaker
Im impressed with the quality of the speakers the sound isnt distorted and at the price point id feel happy to recommend them
Sound quality is excellent however battery life is the best but overall for the price it’s good quality
As noted the sound quality is reasonable as is the blue tooth connectivity
Competitiveness
Have several kitsound products which i have always found to be goo value
As it is i think these get used more than their premium ones

Volume control is via connected device and volume does appear to jump when it connects

A small red dot lights up on the side when it is charging and goes off when the charge is full

Of course you dont need the audio plugged in to hear the sound just connect via bluetooth
