Unlike a fluorescent tube these lamps are not cylindrical in shape

A strip of led’s are mounted inside the tube which is clear plastic so the led’s are visible

This is not unusual as many led products sold in america use led’s drivers or other parts that are from china

It makes no difference if you are plugging into a receptacle controlled by a wall switch since they will see only the neutral wire when the wall switch is off

The more important point is that the ground wire the intermediate or lower pin does connect to and therefore protects the aluminum trac on the first fixture however the 48 inch interconnector is a two wire not a three wire and does not connect the ground circuit to the subsequent lights in the series

Using the 48 inch interconnector however causes all the downstream lights to be not grounded
