Doesnt come with any instructions but you can look up the installation video onlineyoutube easy enough

Note that you cant use this at the top of the stairs so we had to modify a little to make it work safely

My basset hounds have leaned on it pushed and flopped on it and one even tried ramming it and learned of futility so i doubt a child who is too young to operate the latch would make it through either

Over time the holdopen feature stopped working on its own but placing a dog rug under it allowed just enough friction for this mechanism to function and still allow the gate to automatically close when the feature is not engaged

Autoclose is nice most of the time but sometimes we dont want to lockclose the gate if our baby is not around and we have to prop it open with a pillow or something

Our baby sometimes pulls herself up onto the gate and the gate stays in place very well doesnt move at all
