Pros & Cons
Pros
The scallion is one of the nicer kershaw knives i know of. I am a complete rookie when it comes to knives. All of kershaws knives designed by ken onion are attractive and durable.
Kershaw scallion is one of my top 3 edc knives. Perfect size for the otherwise-idle watch/coin pocket on blue jeans.
The scallion is made in the usa and comes with lifetime sharpening. Sharpens easy which is good because it dulls kinda fast too. Curve in the blade makes it a smidge harder to sharpen, but i haven't had any serious problems.
The knife is easy to open & close. Flips out very fast and easy with the finger flipper or the thumb flipper. The spring assist is great and allows to open the knife one handed and not have to fumble with a thumb stud or too small hole finger hole... Read More
The polymer handle has a good non-slip grip and full stainless steel liners. The handle feels solid and like it won't deteriorate ever. The scales/handles are an engineering plastic; grippy, light and rigid enough so there's no concern about flex.
Highlights
Quality
You wont find a better quality knife for the price
Releasing the blade tip safety lock becomes a practiced move of the tip of the ring finger and is quickly learned as i did with the chive
Wasnt sure about spending decent money on a pocket knife when i have owned and gotten by with the cheap plastic foreign ones for so long
But still that is not a quality feature
Price
Boy was this knife worth the price
Price has soared with everything else these days
Packaging/appearance
Very sharp straight out of the package and incredibly smooth to open
Its lightweight attractive and very sharp right out of the box
I work in an office environment where a big knife is frowned upon this little guy doesnt turn heads when i pull it out to open ... Read More
Competitiveness
All of kershaws knives designed by ken onion are attractive durable and functional
Maybe sort of a ladys size knife
I may step up to spyderco h1 in the future as that is intended for salt water environments

Ive had this little guy for about 18 months now and figured it was due time to give s little feedback

For me the studs on this blade are really only there to stop the rotation of the blade when opening but could be used to open the knife after the joint breaks in and gets smoother

Most importantly the blade locks up tight when open and has no movement or wobble

Where this knife falls short of being a really good knife is the smooth stippling on the scales
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
While the stippling on this knife is better than smooth metal scales to be truly effective stippling needs to have slightly sharp edges for maximum grip which this knife does not
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
The kershaw blur i bought previously has such stippling similar to some of the newer polymer handled pistols
