Routers are techie things that have to connect to a lot of other techie things all of which have different specs and capabilities

Thats why people wind up letting their cable company set up whatever modem and router theyre going to use and then pay through the nose for the privilege of renting the equipment ad infinitum even if theres better equipment out there—and the cable companies are going to try to dissuade you from upgrading with your own most likely superior devices because they want to make as much money off of you as possible
