Pros
The kintyre is very windproof and waterproof. Tested last week in snowdonia when we had torrential rain driven by strong winds. Also has a storm flap if you really need to batten down the hatches.
It fits snugly and looks great. The jacket is well designed and solidly made. My only gripe is that the hood is a bit bulky around the neck.

It has given great service but the main zip toggle came off and the jacket was looking rather tatty

However it is a fair bit shorter in the body than the old one so doesnt protect the top of my thighs and i cant fit my red fleece under it so it will be more for summer wear

Watch out that you dont pay over the odds just for the red colour compared with say dark blue

I replaced it because the waterproofing had become unreliable on the arms and around the shoulders so thats after about six years of very heavy use

Dont depend on it it to handle extreme mountain driving rain nor be agreeably breathable when walking up long gradients and getting too hot youll need to spend three times as much to get dependability there
