I tried this enclosure first of all as a simple usb external drive – my pc recognised my ntfs hdd no problem – worked fine

From there on things just went downhill rapidly

Most modern nas enclosures available now seem to want to impose their own proprietary encrypted file system – the problem with this is if the software or hardware in the enclosure fails then the drive becomes unreadable by any other means unless an identical replacement enclosure is purchased – if they are still available

Now i have previously installed several nas devices of various brands containing up to 3tb drives on my network and all i have needed to do is fit my hdd inside the device plug in the ethernet cable plug in the power supply and switch on and as if by magic my hdd app
