This cookbook is a game changer. It is also just plain beautiful to sit and browse through. Nice looking for the coffee table or bookshelf.
Recipes are delight to reproduce. With the availability of ingredients, resourcefulness, and creativity of cooks during that time. Some recipes are a little beyond everyday cooking, just with difficult ingredients or complex instructions.

The sweet potato salad looks amazing. Ingredients are easy to find and the illustration is well taught. The recipes can be altered to fit your taste.
Cons
Pecan pie isn't an african american invention. It even claims the invention (george crum) of the potato chip. If you want false history, and technically, cultural appropriation, i guess it's the book for you.
