The frame is a matching black aluminum, solid, strong and kind of minimalist. I am a avid amazon shopper and this is one of the top in my list. My only complaint is that it came with 3 huge dents in the board.
A slight looseness exists in the attachment of the chalk holder to the frame allowing the holder to slide rather freely. This magnetic chalkboard is fantastic!
The chalk tray is great and it cleans beautifully! Chalk board is made with quality material. It is very easy to clean, it chalk coating doesn't feel rough. Easy to hang and chalk cleans off easily.

It is not a quick wipe and write because the marker needs to be wet to come off and the board has to dry before you can use it again
