However in my case it would not even go under the seat for the simple reason that it came improperly attached to the rods and would not turn properly to be able to slide under the seat when not in use

This is difficult to explain if youre not seeing the chair in person but trust me it was a problem but i was able to correct it

The thing is this thing really does not seem suitable to be used as a foot rest since it is more of a calf rest

In other words chairs such as this one are made so that the back can be placed into a full reclining position and when the foot rest is extended it serves almost as a bed with ones body extended completely out as if lying in a bed not a chair

Perhaps those in other countries might be familiar with such chairs but i was not and there does not seem to be anything in the enclosed assembly directions or any marketing that points this out
