On my speakers after about a year the rubber turned into a sticky goo

I have continued to use the monitors with no major sonic or electrical problems but the finish looks terrible and is sticky to the touch

The trick was that the grilles themselves didnt actually touch the boxes to prevent buzzes and rattles
