Additionally i am concerned that my heavier blades could be accidentally knocked off especially with handles resting on the counterhit them with a cookie sheet or skillet and bam they drop right off the magnet

Note that i am deducting a star for the mounting hardwareit is entirely possible to include drywall anchors that hold very well even when being pushedpulled repeatedly

If you bump the knife it just rotates on the magnet youd have to be a real klutz to whack it hard enough to knock it off by accident

A magnetic knife holder also lessens the chance of dulling the blade because youre not dragging it out of a slot in a butcher block the proper way to store your knives in a butcher block is with the edges up it may not look like the picture on the box but it keeps the edges sharp
