Sledge "with the old breed" is also excellent and exceptional account of what * these brave men went through. Well written, ww2 with a marine mortar man. A brave man telling of the heroic deeds of the marines on peleliu and then okinawa.

Reading these books really makes the hbo mini series really come alive. His book is factual, authentic and heart breaking. Bought his paperback book from the worth gun show several years ago.
