Microsoft does not have any official dc to charging charging cables for the surface

If you are not doing anything battery intensive then you should be able to charge your surface while using it albeit slower than if it was off

Note when charging the display is on and you can see from underneath that the battery takes up about 23 and then theres a gap of nothing then the display and probably the circuit board
